The End of an Era...

...and the beginning of a life-long journey :)

[This past weekend while you were away....]

As the horse & carriage stopped, I glanced up and there written in the sky was: "Tara Tran, will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me? xoxo" Fireworks exploded as he got down on one knee in his Armani tux with my dream ring presented to me in a shiny cherry wood box. I teared and exclaimed "YES! OF COURSE!" We kissed, we embraced, the carriage driver clapped....and fairies started singing. ---->> this is the story i THOUGHT i would be telling all of you had you asked me at 7 years old.

Reality though was a bit different....in a great way. :)

Think the "proposal" scene b/w Big & Carrie in the first SATC movie. Didn't see it?

Carrie: So really, we're getting married?
Mr. Big: We're getting married. Should we get you a diamond?
Carrie: No. No. Just get me a really big closet.

except I said yes to the diamond. the closet can come later ;) lol and OUR script went like this:

T: "shouldn't we get married or something already?"
G: "....yeah, ok. Go look for a ring and just show me what you want."

I giggled...he smirked.
We high-fived then held hands L OH L

No horse-drawn carriage, no sky words, no fairies. Just him and I on a hot May evening....listening to Drake? I guess when you've been together this long for what is the EPIC romance of your life....the proposal is just a superficial detail.

I am ecstatic to embark on this new phase of life together with him. Handsome, uber smart, great with kids, ambitious, successful, responsible, fashionable, funny, athletic.....and he loves shopping almost as much as i do. Truly a rare breed and the Beckham to my Posh...not to mention the Big to my Carrie.

Stylish French Lesson

So you call yourself a fashionista, but u can't pronounce Lanvin correctly? Tsktsk, my dear. To be fluent in fashion, one should be fluent in French. Ok....that's not true, but you should at least be able to properly say the names of the major fashion houses you claim to love so much.

A couple of the mispronunciations that I cringe at most:

Givenchy -- it's not GUH-VIN-CHEE (ugh! *dies*). it's "zhee-vahn-shee" . Note: The French pronounce the letter "g" the way the majority of English-speakers pronounce the "s" in the word "usual" or "usually."

Lanvin -- not Lan-vin, but "lah(n)-vae(n)"

Louboutin -- omg hiphop has BUTCHERED this name. Listen, Kanye....its not "lou-bit-ton", it's "loo-boo-ti(n)" -- think the french word "vin" to help pronounce "tin".

Hervé Léger -- not HERVE LEDGER :S --> "air-vay lay-zhay" the G here is pronounced the same as in Givenchy.

For audio clips on how to pronounce almost every major fashion house's name (incl. Balmain, Chopard, Ermenegildo Zegna, Hermes, and so much more) go here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9byORv-O6g

and for those of you who think it may be a bit pretentious and tedious to say the names properly....think about this: if someone pronounced RZA, Kanye, or Wale wrong you'd correct them just the same, right? Right.

French is sexy so study up! :)

HJNTIY Quote of the Day:

No matter how powerful and real your feelings may be for someone, if that person cannot fully and honestly return them and therefore actively love you back, these feelings mean nothing.

The Bro Code by Barney Stinson

Absolutely hilarious!! What exactly is it? Well...it's a book that outlines "rules" for how "Bros" should conduct themselves in various situations. And that's basically all it is.

My favourite excerpts from the book:

Article 1: Bros before ho's
The bond between two men is stronger than a bond between a man and a woman because, on average, men are stronger than women. That's just science.

Article 12: Bros do not share dessert.

Article 26: Unless he has children, a Bro should not wear his cell phone on a belt clip.

Article 41: A Bro never cries.
Exceptions: Watching Field of Dreams, E.T., or a sports legend retire ** applies only to the first time he retires.

Article 49: When asked: "Do you need some help?" a Bro shall automatically respond "I got it.", whether or not he's actually got it.
Exceptions: Carrying an expensive TV, parallel parking an expensive car, loading an expensive TV into an expensive car.

Article 73: A Bro never asks for directions when lost.

LOL Love it!!! Go read it ASAP! :)
