Alice in Wonderland...

...was always one of my favourite books. As a child who lived in her imagination and in her own dreamworld almost as much as she did in reality (or maybe even more so), this book was a god-send. With a ridiculously fun storyline and imagery that far surpasses any book I've read, I am still very much in love with it until this day.

One of my favourite characters is the Queen of Hearts / Red Queen:

And even though many of you didn't like Tim Burton's 2010 adaption, *i* thought it was great because (if for nothing else) the visuals, costumes, and characters were amazing. Helena Bonham-Carter & Johnny Depp rock my socks!

Some of my favourite quotes from the movie:

The Red Queen: And what is this?
White Rabbit: It's a who, majesty. This is... um...
The Red Queen: 'Um'?
Alice Kingsley: From Umbridge.
The Red Queen: What happened to your clothes?
Alice Kingsley: I outgrew them. I've been growing an awful lot lately. I tower over everyone in Umbridge. They laugh at me. So, I've come to you hoping you might understand what it's like.
The Red Queen: My dear girl, anyone with a head that large is welcome in my court. Someone find her some clothes, use the curtains if you must, but clothe this enormous girl.

Stayne - Knave of Hearts: [Stayne sees Alice] And who is this lovely creature?
The Red Queen: Um, my new favourite. .
Stayne - Knave of Hearts: [to Alice] What is your name?
The Red Queen: Um.
Stayne - Knave of Hearts: [to Alice] I believe your name has slipped the Queen's mind.
The Red Queen: Her name is Um, IDIOT!

The Red Queen: You're right, Stayne. It is far better to be feared than loved.

The Mad Hatter: [to Alice] You used to be much more..."muchier." You've lost your muchness.

This post is a prelude to something fun to come ;) Stay tuned....

Take me to the track!

I've always wanted to attend the Kentucky Derby and wear one of those fantastic hats!

I don't know who this stunning creature above is, but she is just perfect!

And as much fun as the Kentucky Derby looks, the Royal Ascot in the UK looks even MORE fabulous:

Someone take me pleeeaaaaaasseee!!! Wait....I need to go shopping first (point me to the nearest Kentucky Derby hat boutique). And do I really need to know anything about horse-racing? I'll just sit around, look cute, and have my picture taken while sipping on mimosas.

To Invite or NOT to Invite?

In making our engagement party / wedding guestlist, we've realized that it's getting fairly political.
If I could invite all 12938129038123 of yall, I would. But alas, we aren't on Donald Trump's budget so we're trying to keep the # under 300 (i'd rather do it smaller and right, than bigger and have to stinge on certain things...or worse yet work ourselves into a huge debt). With that said, I've come up with some criteria for either inviting you, or cutting you from the list.

Must-invites:

♥ Immediate family (this includes parents' siblings and their children)

♥ God-parents / Parents' bffs

♥ Closest friends. How do you tell if you fall into this category?

  • A) You were there for most of the important events in our lives (good AND bad).
  • B) you were one of the first we told about the engagement/ring
  • C) I bbm you at least once a day on important and notsoimportant happenings.
  • D) you've most likely seen my morning face LOL
  • E) you've met either of our parents or other members of the family.
  • F) you've spent time with us both OUTSIDE of a club/work environment.
  • G) we heart you :)
  • H) none of the above has changed in the past year.

Maybes:

○ Distant relatives (2nd cousins, etc)

○ Parents' close friends

○ Coworkers

○ Not-so-close friends, but you know our circles of friends. I.E.:

  • A) We hang out, it's a goodtime....but we don't know anything that personal about each other.
  • B) We usually invite you to our parties, but usually because we felt obliged to (because of our social circles or some other superficial reason).
  • C) we haven't really seen you or spoken to you in the past year
  • D) You don't know my middle name
  • E) you're not on my BBM / we msg eachother once in a blue moon.

You're getting cut if:

x You are a REALLY distant relative (cousins of cousins of cousins etc. (um the word 'cousin' is starting to look and sound weird))

x Parents' random aquaintances

x We've known you for less than a year.

x We haven't hung out / seen you in over a year.

x You haven't met one of us, but know the other.

x You have failed to invite us to your Bdays/engagement/wedding/other milestone events (petty move but i don't care...it's budget time!)

x I suspect that you are going to give us like $20 or a can of Spam as a wedding gift -- no disrespect, but if this wedding is costing us about $100+ a head....don't be an ass!

x you have yet to congratulate us on the engagement (not that I need it, but it just shows you don't care so I assume you don't care to be a part of the wedding day either)

x you're a jerk. kthanksbye.

Of course there will be rare exceptions to the rules, but this is generally what I'm sticking by. And if you feel like you're not getting invited....better start sucking up lol Cuz it's gonna be a fantastic ride ;)

If you are married/engaged, let me in on lessons you learned while making the guestlist for both events.

xoxo

Thierry Lasry

Thierry Lasry Swarovski crystal-studded sunglasses.

I want the dopeass pair on the left....eat your heart out, Lady Gaga.
But where would I wear them??? :(

@JanetLBee asks: These are cool but can you only see out of one side?

>> Good question! It helps that the one side on the white pair seem to be clear as opposed to tinted, but still.... and it would be a problem for me since I have major astigmatism so my left eye is BLIND :( I need to find a place that carries these so I can conduct a proper assesment.

Happy Friday, yall!

Earthquake in T.O.

Not that I feel the need to re-tell what everyone and their moms are twittering about nonstop....but I just wanted to comment that I did not feel it. I think I am earthquake-oblivious; recall the moment in Los Angeles where I thought someone had kicked my chair, when in reality I had just experienced my first earthquake.

So there you have it....I semi-missed one in Cali and I've totally missed out on one in my own hometown. Why do i feel sorta ripped off?

Read a bit more about the event here

and warning of tornados??? Yikes.

Maybe the Mayans were right about this whole 2012 thing. Seriously considering moving my wedding up ASAP! LOL or maybe we'll just elope. Vegas is one of my favourite destinations, afterall.

Sidenote: Since my biggest reasons for not moving to Southern California were A) Earthquakes and B) Lack of Universal Healthcare.....I may as well pack up my things and and go now. See yall in L.A.! :)

Christian Louboutin F/W 2010

After being fairly underwhelmed with the S/S '10 collection, I wasn't sure what to expect of F/W. One word: SHOE-EFFING-GASM!!!

Some of these are crazy high even by Louboutin standards lol -- not that I'm complaining. Have a look:

I.WANT.THEM.ALL!!!!
Maybe I'll just wear jeans at our wedding so I can spend my dress money on all of these shoes :X LOL Just kidding! Gorg once-in-a-life-time dream wedding dress trumps seasonal shoes. But mark my words, I will own a couple of these babies.

KLutched

I used to think i only wanted big bags. The bigger the better. That is, until I discovered this fab new line: KLutched !! I love it all, but below are my faves from their launch collection.

SenTrel Klutch in purple fishscale leather.
Studded miniaudiere. Um HEART!
yeah....my obssession with pyramid studs continues.

oh, how pretty!

MenIlla Oversized Ostrich Klutch

All pieces range from around $300 - $500USD, i believe. Which is absolutely AMAZING for such luxe materials. Not to mention they all look couture-made and worth at least $1000 each, easily!

Currently only available online, or in Malaysia or Singapore. Toronto boutiques need to pick these up ASAP :)
